Are you ready to apply your interests in technology to the international business arena? Pursuing a degree in global technology is a great way to advance your management or technology career.
Many colleges, universities, and institutes offer degrees in global technology. These are typically bachelor's, MBA, or MS programs.
A bachelor's program would teach you about the economic and political processes of globalization. For example, you could pursue a BS in international studies with a concentration in global technology. You would take courses in history, world politics, world geography, general economics, and global economics. You might take seminars in science and technology, and in global technology. And finally, you program might offer a specialization in a particular technology, such as computer science, biology, or civil engineering. The combination of technology skills and globalization knowledge should prepare you for a job in international business, government, public policy, or the military.
If you are already a working professional, an MBA in global technology can further your career in business. An MBA program would teach you about the major business disciplines from a global perspective. You'd typically take courses in marketing, finance, operations management, and project management. And you would take global technology coursework, where you would learn how globalization affects the development and spread of technology. A completed MBA can lead to management jobs at international firms.
Some schools offer interdisciplinary MS programs in global technology. In these programs, you would take a set of global technology courses. You would also take a set of advanced courses in a technology important to globalization, such as telecommunications, commerce, or transportation. Completing such a program could lead to a managerial engineering position at an international firm.
