Cisco Certified Network Professional CCNP
Climbing up the career ladder in IT can be hard work, but very rewarding. For many roles there are specific promotion pathways, and one of these that you could take is that of a Cisco Certified Network Professional. To do this you have to gain your CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) and work for some time as a first level IT network technician. Once you have collected some experience you will be ready to study for your CCNP, the journeyman level certification in networking.
You can study to prepare for your CCNP exams at a college or university, or a technical institute. Some IT schools include certification courses as a part of their IT diploma or degree program, or offer the relevant course as a stand alone. As this certification is primarily about doing hands on work, most people study and work at the same time, and for some people this becomes easier if they study using online materials. However you decide to prepare yourself for your CCNP, you will need some professional input to be sure that you make the most of your opportunity.
When you have gained your CCNP, you will find that your promotion prospects have improved, and if you are applying for a new job, your certificate will help you to get that all important interview. This second level of Cisco certification is for professional IT people and gaining it will prove that you have a successful IT career.
